A New Record

I'm posting two days in a row!!! It's a new record! (Not really. March of last year kind of rocked for me.) So check out 14 of 17:

Just like yesterday, I spent way too much time watching Doctor Who this morning (Well, I actually only watch two episodes. It could have been worse.) and my knitting is reaping the benefits. As in now it exists, and before it was a ball of yarn.

So after that, I felt a little guilty, and wanted to do something productive with my day. Being the neat freak I am, my first thought was, "Let's clean something!" I then proceeded to the perfectly logical step of drawing a map of my room:

which I am showing you for no apparent reason whatsoever. I actually measured my room from wall to wall, and all the furniture. And then drew it on graph paper (each square is six square inches, if you care). I really have no idea what the point of all this was.

One last thing before I go. About two months ago, before my, um, absence, I said I was going to start posting book reviews. And then I left. Anyway, my original plan was to post those on Thursdays, because those were my busier evenings, and I could write the posts ahead of time. That doesn't matter anymore, so I have a new plan. Any weekday that I don't have much of anything to post, I'll put up that week's review. And if (by some miracle) I have stuff to post every day, then it'll come on Friday.

BOOOOKS

I am getting close to the end of 3 of 17 (and you thought I was going to forget), but there hasn't been any visible progress, so I'm recycling pictures:

I know I ended yesterday's post with sort of a cliffhanger, so I'm going to amend that right now. So you know how I said I love reading? I wasn't kidding. I seriously inhale books, and I've been doing it since kindergarten. After seeing my brother (in second grade) read the first few HP books, I wanted to, too. So my mom and I took turns, each reading one chapter aloud, until I decided she read too slow and just went and read it by myself. I haven't exactly slowed down since then, so I've decided to share my addiction with you guys! (Do you feel lucky? Because seriously, you shouldn't.)

Yesterday's description of The Return was the beginning of a new thing I'm going to try. I don't have a name for it, so it doesn't have a tag or anything (did you really think I thought this through?), but it's basically going to be book recommendations. I like to think I have a broad taste in books, but some of you may feel like I'm being really repetitive. I'm probably going to do it on Thursdays, since I'm never home on Thursday afternoons, and most of the time I don't end up posting. I'm not sure if I'll do it tomorrow, since I sort of did one yesterday, but whatever. I'll figure it out.

I hope you enjoy, and if you don't, then just don't come here on Thursdays. There'll be plenty of yarn addiction on other days! :)

You're Saying it Wrong!

I've been trying and trying, but I've decided that the best thing to do is take another hiatus. I really don't want to, but I'm going to have a crazy month, so any posting I would do would be spotty at best. I just think it will be better if I'm not worrying about trying to post along with everything else. I'll probably won't be back until after the holidays.

Let's face it. She totally would have said it!

My First Blogiversary

In honor of my first blogiversary, I finally did something I have been meaning to do for ages. I went back through all my archives, and made sure they all had the correct labels. A lot of my earlier posts were missing labels that I made after I made that post, so I am glad to have that all sorted out. I also fixed some of the fonts that were wonky, and corrected some typos. But I'm sure there's a bunch more!

(OK, so I know most people probably don't care, but I am obsessed with being organized, so it makes me very happy.)

Anyway...... I had originally put all of this stuff with yesterday's post, but it was kind of super long, so I split it up.

I've been working on the catnip ornament:

And I made this little pouch:

which clips on to things. I actually just took a zippered pouch I had, and shortened it, but still. I like it!

And I played with the hot glue gun:

All done! But I still want to make two new ones. It's not pretty enough to give away! :)

Yesterday afternoon I was a gingerbread ornament machine! I made three little guys in about two hours. I have a set of two that are going together, and one that will be going with a necklace. I could have sworn I took pictures of them, but I'm not going to aggravate myself trying to get that organized now. That can wait until Monday!

Oops

I hope you guys had a great weekend! I did, but it was kind of crazy.... I went to an awesome concert on Friday, and I was out of the house most of Saturday. I'm sure you know where I'm going with this...... Yeah, that's right. I didn't do much this weekend. I did, however, finally get myself to Michael's, and I have the needle I want for the beret. So I should be starting that soon. I also got some really cushy yarn I thought I was going to make a pi scarf with, but it's too thick, so I'm thinking a hat. With a snowflake on it.

I'm going to be busy for most of this week, but I will try to craft and post as much as possible! Have a great day!

Nothing Today

Sorry, but I haven't done anything worthwhile since my post yesterday. I am dancing between projects, trying to find one I really want to do, and hopefully I will have decided by tomorrow! Have a great afternoon!

Well, not officially summer... My summer begins when the crazy busy time of year ends and I can actually breathe every once in a while (and knit, and crochet, and sew, and you get the picture). I will be back on June 11 (and of course now that I said that I'm going to be in the hospital with two broken wrists on June 11) with regular (ish) posts. OK, that literally made no sense.

Here's the deal. May and early June are my busy times of year, leaving me with little time to do things I like to do when I'm not being responsible. Such as all the stuff I write about here. So, I will be taking a vacation here while the rest of my life is more demanding, and I will come back when it stops whining and actually lets me live. So, see you on June 11! (hopefully!)

Ah!!!!!

OK, that seriously just looks like I'm sighing kind of loudly. I meant it to be something more like this: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! That's better. Carry on!

I just want to throw it out there that April hates me, my blog, and all that it stood for the entire month of March. First, I was sick for three and a half days! I am not supposed to get sick! It makes me so mad! (rant over ) Then, it gave me no good material for the BH. I mean, in the rest of the month, we are supposed to celebrate everything from Newspaper Columnists to Jellybeans to Garlic to Shrimp Scampi! And while I have nothing against shrimp scampi, work with me people! I can only even imagine links for the 25th, the 26th, and maybe the 29th. Depending on what kind of mood I'm in. So, for the rest of April, I am officially shutting down the Bizarre Holidays feature. And just for the record, May and June aren't looking too friendly either. I'm just saying.

OK, so since most people probably don't even care, we will just be moving right along.

I have been crocheting. I thought I saw a few knitting needles somewhere in there, bust mostly crocheting. I am on Row 38ish of the Magnificent Mantle, which is coming along just fine. So well that I'm already looking ahead to my next project!

Our month!!!!

Wow! We have our own month! March is...... (drum roll please) National Craft Month!!!! 

It is also Irish American Month, Music in Our Schools Month, National Frozen Food Month, National Irish American Heritage Month, National Nutrition Month, National Peanut Month, National Women's History Month, Red Cross Month, and Social Workers Month. So that means, if you are a female social worker* of Irish descent that volunteers with the Red Cross, eats frozen food, peanuts, and healthy stuff, and enjoys music..... Feel special!


*"female" and "social worker" are supposed to be two separate bold things


So the point of all that was, I'm thinking about adding a new feature to my blog. The first time I post each month, I'll have a list of things that month is. (I probably won't do the If you are...... because that gave me a headache!) Then, during the month, I will try to tie my post in to one of those things. This could be with pictures, words, links, or just about anything. I may also use the specific day. (For example, yesterday was Peach Blossom Day, among other things.) It will be weird, it will be wacky, and it probably won't work, but that's just how I am!

I was bad. I was very, very bad. I started the last square of my blanket! Or maybe that's good. But I barely did anything on the tree skirt before abandoning it! Here it is, two rows into stripe 3 of 15:

I worked on it for less than an hour last night, so it may be done by this time next week. I say that hesitantly, because this week will be a little hectic.

This is all the yarn I have left. I really hope it's enough, because this whole thing was supposed to be a stashbusting project, and buying more yarn for it might make me cry. Or be grouchy for a while, depending on how close I was. Hopefully, it won't come to that.

This is my entry for the art contest, and it is nowhere near done. I'm not sure when the entry is due, i.e. it being on the floor and easy to pick up and start anytime.

Some Planning for 2012

Hello again! This post is a list of projects I want to do this year, and each of them will require me to learn a new technique.

OK, here's how this works. I have made a list of techniques I would like to learn this year, and matched them up with a project. For most of them, I have an idea of who a potential recipient could be, and I'm going to use colors that appeal to them. That way, I'll end up with some Christmas presents and have less of a rush next December! (OK, I had one present to make on the twenty-third that was finished in plenty of time, but this way I can make more.)

This Isn't Working So Well!

OK, I still need to work on this "post-a-day" thing. But here I am!

I finished this. Kind of. Go to the bottom and look at the big rectangle. I decided I was done, so I bound off and looked for a better way to arrange it, as a kind of wrap, because the poncho was not looking so great in the neck area. OK, it was awful. I think it has a future as a blanket. A small blanket.

I made a skirt! I'm going to wear it on Monday, so I'll take a picture sometime between now and then. OR on Monday. Then you guys can see it! (Wait, did I mention this in my last post?)

I have two projects in mind: this scarf, and this headband, both from Persnickety Knitter. I just printed them out, so I'm going to go get started on one of them! Probably the headband.

Thoughts

Wow...... It's been a long time! My last post was the end of October. Now it's November! 8! I guess I wasn't posting because I didn't have much to write about, but then I thought about the blogs I read that don't post very often and how much that bugs me, so if there's anyone in the world reading this right now, I'm sorry. (Besides my dad. He follows it. Hi Dad!) I think I should try to post every day, even if it's just to say hey. I'm not sure about the weekends, because a lot of people don't post on the weekends, but that's when I have time to post and craft. So I'll just play it by ear. Thanks!

Oh, and there should be a "real" post today, later. I need to find my camera's memory card.

A Rocky Road

Hi guys!

As I mentioned when I first posted, this is my first blog. I know the posts have been a bit awkward, and they don't sound like me at all. Once I have used up the store of posts I wrote from my website, I think it will sound a little more natural because I will be talking about the present, and I will try to make it more interesting and easier to read and enjoy. I also figured out how to make sure the pictures don't show up as blank spaces with blue question marks. If there's anyone reading, thanks for sticking by me!

OK, so thanks for riding the rocky road of my first couple of weeks, but pretty soon it'll be smooth sailing!

This is the first blog I've ever had. I had a website for a few months, but I decided I liked the organizational system of blogs better, so I made the switch. I have a lot of content stored, so I hopefully I will be making a daily post, at least for a few weeks.
